Australia coach Darren Lehmann: 'We could make changes for second Test'

Australia coach Darren Lehmann hints that his side could make changes for the second Test of the Ashes series at Lord's following their 169-run defeat at Sophia Gardens.

Australia coach Darren Lehmann has suggested that he could make changes to his side following their defeat in the first Test of the Ashes series.

The Baggy Greens slipped to a 169-run loss to England at Sophia Gardens, which has brought several players under the spotlight, including Shane Watson and wicketkeeper Brad Haddin.

However, Lehmann has admitted that they will look at the Lord's pitch ahead of the second Test before making any decisions over whether to drop any of the 11 players that played in their defeat.

He told Sky Sports News: "At the end of day you don't want to be getting out lbw all the time and you want to make more runs. Shane would be disappointed, so are we. It's one of those things where you have to find a way and that's something we probably didn't do as a batting group, not just Shane.

"We'll certainly look at the wicket and work out the best XI to win in those conditions and it means making changes, we'll make changes. That won't be an issue for the selection panel. It's going to be a tight call heading into the second Test.

"We can't control what just happened, what we can do is learn from it and make the right decisions going forward - that is selection and also the way we play."

Mitchell Marsh and Peter Nevill could come into the side at Lord's on Thursday.
