Mitchell Johnson happy with "special" Ashes display

Mitchell Johnson is delighted with Australia's display after taking a 2-0 series lead against England in The Ashes.

Mitchell Johnson has expressed his delight with his own performance during Australia's victory over England in the second Test of The Ashes on Monday and is relishing the chance to reclaim the urn in Perth.

The bowler extended his series total to 17 wickets as the hosts comfortably won by 218 runs at the Adelaide Oval to take a 2-0 lead into their third match in Perth.

"It's a pretty special feeling to be able to back up a performance like Brisbane in the first innings here," Johnson told reporters.

"The performance by our bowling attack was outstanding again. I was really excited about being back in this team and bowling with these guys again. It's a great feeling.

"I do like bowling in Perth and hopefully there will be a bit more bounce and pace there. We have to keep working hard and sticking to our plans. There is another hard Test coming up and we have to make sure we recover well and then get into it."

The third Test gets underway at the WACA in Perth on December 13.
