Kell Brook defends IBF title against Jo Jo Dan

Kell Brook makes the first defence of his IBF welterweight title with a fourth-round stoppage of Jo Jo Dan.

Kell Brook made a successful first defence of his IBF welterweight title with a fourth-round stoppage of mandatory challenger Jo Jo Dan in Sheffield.

Dan came into the fight with 34 wins from 36 bouts, but appeared to be an easy target for Brook from the opening bell.

At the start of the second round, Brook knocked the Romanian to the canvas with a right uppercut, before flooring his opponent with another shot moments later.

The Briton, cheered on by a partisan crowd at the Motorpoint Arena, looked like finishing the contest in quick time with Dan taking hefty punishment from the 28-year-old champion.

Dan's only resort appeared to be to spoil and grapple with the Yorkshireman, but the challenger was unable to land scoring punches.

Brook's dominance was underlined when he floored Dan for a third time after a flurry of blows in the fourth round and he knocked him down again as the bell rang.

The punishment led Dan's corner to throw in the towel and cap a successful return to the ring for Brook, who may have one eye on a bout with domestic rival Amir Khan.
