David Price says that British rival Tyson Fury is an "accident waiting to happen".

British heavyweight title contender David Price has said that former champion Tyson Fury is an "accident waiting to happen".

The 28-year-old faces Sam Sexton for the vacant title at Aintree Racecourse on May 19 following Fury's decision to vacate the strap.

A mouth-watering clash between the two unbeaten rivals was scuppered when the Manchester fighter said that he would only agree to duel on terrestrial television.

However Price, who won bronze in the 2008 Beijing Olympics, believes that Fury ran scared from the potential showdown.

"If they wanted the fight, why not put in a purse bid in and if it lost, then they could have decided to give up the belts if they wanted the fight on Channel Five," said the Liverpudlian.

"We are both on everyone's lips and it would have been a massive fight. Whenever they decide they are ready, I'm ready to fight.

"I'm not going to wait around to see what Tyson Fury gets up to. But if he keeps performing like he has, it may never happen. He looks like an accident waiting to happen."

Price won his last fight against John McDermott in just 73 seconds.
