Andy Lee keen to face Gennady Golovkin, Martin Murray

WBO middleweight champion Andy Lee reveals that he would like to face both Gennady Golovkin and Martin Murray during the next 12 months.

WBO middleweight champion Andy Lee has revealed that he is treating his visit to Monte Carlo to watch Gennady Golovkin face Martin Murray as a scouting mission.

Golovkin is defending his WBA strap against the St Helens fighter, and if he can defeat Peter Quillin in April, Lee has admitted that he wants to face one of the fighters in action on Saturday night.

The 30-year-old is quoted by World Boxing News as saying: "Golovkin and Murray are nice guys and good fighters, and I hope to fight both of them some day.

"I'll be ringside in Monte Carlo watching as both a fan and a fighter. It's a genuinely interesting fight – one I'd be interested in even if I wasn't at their weight – and it also carries relevance to me and my career.

"I'll be looking to see certain things in both fighters. I've seen Golovkin fight at least once before in the flesh, but I've never seen Murray fight in the flesh. It will be nice to see them up close and get a sense of what they're like around a big fight."

Lee won his version of the world title with a stoppage victory over Matt Korobov in December.
