David Haye targets a boxing comeback against Vitali Klitschko next summer.

David Haye has insisted that he will be in the "best possible shape" to fight Vitali Klitschko next summer.

The British boxer announced his retirement in October but has since been in negotiations with the WBC heavyweight champion over a comeback fight.

"When I retired I said the only chance I'd come out of retirement if there was a potential fight with Vitali or Wladmir Klitschko," Haye told Sky Sports News. "We've been talking to Vitali. He's got another fight scheduled for February/March so if there is a likely fight between myself and Vitali it won't be until the summer.

"If it's meant to be it'll be. I believe that as long as I stay healthy, train hard, if the fight does come about I'll be in the best possible shape and I will take his title."

Haye has already been defeated by Vitali's brother Wladimir.
