George Groves to link up with Shane McGuigan

British super-middleweight George Groves links up with trainer Shane McGuigan ahead of his return to the ring on January 30.

British super-middleweight George Groves has described working with new trainer Shane McGuigan as "rejuvenating" after publicly announcing his new association with the Northern Irishman.

After losing to WBC champion Badou Jack in September, Groves parted ways with previous coach Paddy Fitzpatrick, and at one point, it was unclear whether the Londoner would continue in the sport.

However, ahead of his bout with Andrea Di Luisa on January 30, Groves has said that he is delighted with his partnership with McGuigan, who also trains Carl Frampton and David Haye.

The 27-year-old is quoted by Sky Sports News as saying: "I am happy and excited to be back and to be joining a new, exciting and dynamic team of young hungry fighters with a fantastic trainer.

"I've found the past few weeks working with Shane rejuvenating. I'm back punching hard, enjoying my boxing and am now eager to get back to winning ways.

"The loss earlier this year to Badou Jack was a close and frustrating one and I hope to avenge that defeat as soon as possible, starting on January 30 with a KO win."

Groves, a former British, Commonwealth and European champion, possesses a professional record of 21 victories from 24 fights.
