Kell Brook admits that he is "devastated" with the situation that has left his chances of winning a world title in 2013 under threat.

Sheffield welterweight Kell Brook has conceded that he is no closer to knowing when he will fight for a world title.

Brook had his IBF title bout with Devon Alexander shelved last week after the American champion complained of a biceps injury.

Floyd Mayweather Jr's indication that Alexander was a potential opponent for his May return has put Brook's chances of securing a fight with 'The Great' in serious doubt.

Brook has admitted that the situation has left him devastated but 'The Special One' has vowed to stay hungry and seize his chance when it eventually comes.

He told Sky Sports News: "I'm still in limbo with it all. I'm absolutely gutted. I've been training for 13 weeks, then I heard from my family. Finding out the news, I can't put into words how devastated I am.

"But I've got to be professional about it. I've got to keep ticking over, keep my mind on it and wait to hear from them.

"This kind of thing has happened to me before on a smaller scale. I've just got to keep my mind on it. It is hard to deal with, but I've just got to deal with it and be ready for what comes next."

Brook's promoter Eddie Hearn has insisted that his client remains in a strong position to challenge for the IBF belt in 2013.
