Hello and welcome to Sports Mole's live text commentary of day one of the Olympic boxing tournament at the ExCel Centre.

First up is the men's bantamweight and men's middleweight classes. Great Britain's Anthony Ogogo kicks off his challenge in the latter against Junior Castillo Martinez, of the Dominican Republic, at around 3pm.

If you are unfamiliar with the format, competitors will face each other over three rounds, each lasting three minutes. The aim of the game is the score as many points as possible within that time frame. If you can stop your opponent, then that's even better.

23.59Join us tomorrow as Great British duo Josh Taylor and Freddie Evans kick off their Olympic campaigns. Until then, farewell!

23.58All in all, a good start I would say. Let's hope it keeps getting better and better. It is the turn of the lightweight and the welterweight classes tomorrow.

23.56That's the end of the first day of Olympic boxing. There have been some decent fighters and decent fighters on display today. Joseph Diaz Jnr was impressive in the first contest, while Irish duo John Joe Nevin and Darren O'Neill also showed some class to upstage their opponents. Anthony Ogogo was efficient rather than spectacular, and Gausha's late stoppage of Hakobyan was another highlight.

23.43Rahou advances 13-11.

23.41Ross looked like he was flailing at the end of that round.

23.28Next up: Jesse Ross (Australia) vs Abdelmalek Rahou (Algeria)

22.25Drenovak takes a close fight 13-12.

22.24Good fight there, I'm going with Delgado but could go either way in truth.

23.12Next up: Aleksandar Drenovak (Serbia) vs Marlo Delgado Suarez (Ecuador)

23.08Kilicci boxed well there and takes a 14-7 victory.

22.54Next up: Adem Kilicci (Turkey) vs Nursahat Pazziyev (Turkmenistan)

22.52Singh wins 14-10.

22.50Singh believes that he has won this one.

22.38Next up: Vijender Singh (India) vs Danabek Suzhanov (Kazakhstan)

22.35It was waved off by the referee. Gausha wins with a stoppage with one second left. It's never over 'til it's over!

22.34The clock has expired, no one knows who has won! Drama... what a finish. My instinct is Gausha has done it.

22.33Hakobyan down twice inside two seconds with just one second left! Wow!

22.31I think Gausha needs something here...

22.25Hakobyan leads by one point after the first round.

22.23The American is starting to let his fists go now.

22.22Gausha is giving away height and reach to the Armenian.

22.20Next up: Andranik Hakobyan (Armenia) vs Terrell Gausha (United States)

22.18The judges give Atoev an 11-9 victory. Deserved.

22.11Atoev looks like the better fighter.

22.08Atoev leads 3-1 after the first round.

22.05Next up: Abbos Atoev (Uzbekistan) vs Badr-Eddine Haddioui (Morocco)

22.0110-9... to Shimizu. Disappointing for Dogboe.

22.00Dogboe should have done enough in that one.

21.49Dogboe has started really well here. Shimizu has been caught cold.

21.46Next up: Isaac Dogboe (Ghana) vs Satoshi Shimizu (Japan) in the final bantamweight contest of the evening.

21.4316-6 to Alcantara.

21.42There goes the bell. The Dominican should have this one in the bag. Not a great fight.

21.36Scrappy contest so far, not much in the way of quality.

21.28Just a quick mention on the absence of the on-screen scoring for this Olympics. I can't say I'm entirely surprised, given the scandalous scoring that was going on during the Commonwealth Games in Delhi. There is a new electronic scoring system in place now, and points are only revealed at the end of rounds.

21.25Next up: William Encarnacion Alcantara (Dominican Republic) vs Braexir Lemboumba (Gabon)

21.24Mohamed Amine Ouadahi wins via walkover. Turkadze failed to make the weight.

21.22Next up: Murab Turkadze (Georgia) vs Mohamed Amine Ouadahi (Algeria)

21.20Dalakliev should be scoring an easy victory here. He has a lapse in concentration in the final round, which allowed Sonjica back in slightly. But it was never in doubt really.

21.12Dalakliev looking good so far. HAlfway through the second round and he looks well on top.

21.06Next up: Ayabonga Sonjica (South Africa) vs Detelin Dalakliev (Bulgaria)

21.04The judges score it 16-16, but Balla wins on a count-back. The crowd boo and Lbida is in tears. He fought very bravely. Good fight.

21.03The fight is over and both men think they have won. I'm going with Balla

20.58Into the third round now and it is a close fight. Balla leading by one...

20.52Lbida looks good so far, but he is down 7-6 after the first round. The crowd don't seem to like that. Entertaining fight so far

20.50Anthony Ogogo believes that he can beat Ievgen Khytrov after defeating Junior Castillo Martinez in his first-round match.

20.49Ibrahim Balla (Australia) and Aboubakr Seddik Lbida (Morocco) is now underway.

20.46And now it has been confirmed. 18-7 in favour of the Italian, who didn't look flawless by any stretch of the imagination. He got clipped a few times.

20.45The three rounds are up and it looks as though Jahyn Vittorio Parrinello will advance to the next round.

20.22Up first in this evening's session is Namibia's Jonas Matheus vs. Jahyn Vittorio Parrinello of Italy in the bantamweight division.

20.20Welcome to Sports Mole' live text commentary of the Olympic boxing. We have already had 12 bouts today, including Anthony Ogogo's win over Junior Castillo Martinez of the Dominican Republic.
