Nicola Adams relishing the pressure

Team England boxer Nicola Adams rates her appearance at the Commonwealth Games alongside the 2012 Olympics.

Team England boxer Nicola Adams has insisted that she can deal with being the star attraction in her sport at this summer's Commonwealth Games.

Adams, who won gold at the 2012 Olympics, opened her 2014 challenge with victory over Oluwatoyin Oladeji on Monday evening.

After the bout, the flyweight told Sports Mole that her appearance at the Games is as important as London 2012.

"Oh really highly, as high as the Olympic Games for me," said Adams.

When asked if she felt the pressure, Adams responded: "No not at all. I think the fact that everyone thinks that I can win and that I will win gold gives me the confidence to keep on going.

"I would be more worried if people were thinking that I couldn't do it, then I would have something to worry about."

Adams's next fight is against Erandi de Silva.
