NBA roundup: Dallas Mavericks beat Oklahoma City Thunder in overtime

Sports Mole rounds up all the action from Tuesday evening's games in the NBA.

The Dallas Mavericks proved too strong for the Oklahoma City Thunder, beating the Western Conference's second-placed side in overtime.

The home side had to come from five points down during the fourth quarter to force the extra spell, before Dirk Nowitzki led the Mavericks on a game-winning run, scoring seven of his 32 points in overtime.

The Los Angeles Lakers were dominant either side of half time to thrash the New York Knicks.

The Lakers were eight points down at the end of the first quarter, but went into the break ahead, led by Xavier Henry and Nick Young.

The home side set a franchise record in the third quarter, outscoring the Knicks 51-31 to extend their lead further, ensuring back-to-back defeats for the visitors.

A strong second-half performance from the Toronto Raptors was not enough for the team to avoid defeat to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Dion Waiters and Luol Deng led the home side to a 21-point lead, before Kyle Lowry led the Raptors back into the game, edging 95-94 ahead in the fourth quarter.

However, Toronto went on to miss a string of shots, allowing the Cavaliers to regain the lead late on, ending a five-game home losing streak.

The Orlando Magic sealed their first win in 10 games with a comfortable victory over the Portland Trail Blazers.

Tobias Harris and Nikola Vucevic helped the Magic surge ahead in the second quarter, giving them a big enough lead to survive a late fightback from the Blazers, who slipped to their third defeat in a row.

Results in full: Toronto Raptors 100-102 Cleveland Cavaliers, Portland Trail Blazers 85-95 Orlando Magic, Oklahoma City Thunder 119-128 Dallas Mavericks, New York Knicks 96-127 Los Angeles Lakers
