NBA roundup: Defeats for Miami Heat, Indiana Pacers, Los Angeles Lakers

Sports Mole rounds up all the action from Tuesday night's games in the NBA.

A strong finish by the Miami Heat was not enough for them to avoid defeat to the Houston Rockets.

Just one night after scoring 61 against the Charlotte Bobcats, LeBron James was unable to reproduce his best, and was restricted to 22 points for the defending champions.

Dwight Howard and James Harden helped the Rockets surge ahead, before Michael Beasley and Dwyane Wade gave the visitors some late hope, but it was not enough.

A last-second shot gave the Golden State Warriors a narrow win over the Eastern Conference leaders, the Indiana Pacers.

The Pacers had looked to be finishing strongly after a run of points at the end of the third quarter, but Klay Thompson added a jump shot with less than a second remaining on the clock to put the Warriors ahead.

The Oklahoma City Thunder crushed the Philadelphia 76ers to clinch their third straight victory.

The Thunder got off to a quick start, leading by 14 by the end of the first quarter, while Kevin Durant led the scoring with 42.

The San Antonio Spurs recovered from a poor first quarter to thrash the Cleveland Cavaliers at the Quicken Loans Arena.

The hosts led by 10 points at the end of the opening 12 minutes, but the Spurs hit back, outscoring their opponents by 20 to led at half time, before continuing to dominate after the break, as Danny Green finished the game with 24 points.

The Los Angeles Clippers fought back for a win over the Phoenix Suns, having trailed by 12 points during the third quarter.

Matt Barnes got the visitors back into contention, scoring 18 of his 28 points in the third as the Clippers overturned the deficit.

A dominant first half ensured that the New Orleans Pelicans had enough to hold on for a win over the Los Angeles Lakers.

Anthony Davis continued his strong scoring form with 28 points, as the Pelicans took a 16-point lead into the break, which was enough for them to see out the win.

Results in full: San Antonio Spurs 122-101 Cleveland Cavaliers, Golden State Warriors 98-96 Indiana Pacers, Miami Heat 103-106 Houston Rockets, Philadelphia 76ers 92-125 Oklahoma City Thunder, Los Angeles Clippers 104-96 Phoenix Suns, New Orleans Pelicans 132-125 Los Angeles Lakers
