DeMarcus Cousins handed fine, suspension

Sacramento Kings center DeMarcus Cousins will miss the team's next game and must pay a $20,000 fine following his ejection from a game earlier this week.

DeMarcus Cousins has been handed a one-game suspension and a $20,000 (£11,950) fine for punching an opponent and verbally abusing an official.

The Sacramento Kings center was ejected from the team's defeat to the Houston Rockets earlier this week.

Cousins punched Rockets guard Patrick Beverley in the stomach in the first quarter of the game, before abusing official Courtney Kirkland in the second half.

Cousins, who apologised after the game, will serve his suspension when the Kings play the Los Angeles Lakers later today.
