Kevin Durant undergoes surgery

Oklahoma City Thunder star Kevin Durant undergoes successful surgery on his right foot and will be re-evaluated in six weeks' time.

Oklahoma City Thunder star Kevin Durant underwent successful surgery to repair a fracture in his right foot, the franchise announced on Thursday.

Durant took to Twitter to let his fans know that the surgery went as planned and he thanked them for all their support ahead of his rehabilitation programme.

The 26-year-old will be re-evaluated in six weeks' time, which means that the Thunder forward is likely to miss the first month of the new season at least.

However, general manager Sam Presti stressed that both the team and the player himself were fortunate that the injury was caught early before it became more serious.

Durant averaged 32 points, 7.4 rebounds and 5.5 assists in 81 games last season, while he led the league in minutes played with 3,122.
