Luol Deng opts into Miami Heat deal

Luol Deng opts into the second year of his Miami Heat contract to commit to the side for the 2015-16 season.

Luol Deng has opted in for the 2015-16 season to end speculation surrounding his future with the Miami Heat.

The All-Star forward was expected to enter free agency in an attempt to secure more money with the Heat or another team this summer, but his agent has confirmed that he will stay in Miami for a second year.

"He thinks their team is going to be terrific, really terrific," Herb Rudoy told the Sun Sentinel after revealing that Deng had opted in.

Deng averaged 14 points per game in his debut season with the Heat after being signed as a replacement for LeBron James, who re-joined the Cleveland Cavaliers last summer.

The Heat are waiting to hear whether Dwyane Wade will opt out and become a free agent ahead of Monday night's deadline, and if he decides to test the market, Miami president Pat Riley will be under pressure to re-sign both Wade and Goran Dragic for the new campaign.
