Miami Heat president Pat Riley: 'We have all the elements of a championship team'

Miami Heat president Pat Riley believes that his side can make a strong challenge to win the NBA Championship next season due to the quality of their roster.

Miami Heat president Pat Riley has declared that his side have all the elements needed to clinch the NBA Championship in the 2015-16 season.

The Heat had made four straight appearances in the NBA Finals, winning the Championship twice, before last season where Erik Spoelstra's men struggled following the departure of LeBron James.

However, Riley believes that the club have assembled a strong enough roster to compete for the title in the upcoming campaign.

He told ESPN: "I think this team has all of the elements of a championship team. Whether or not you can ever win a championship will depend on a number of factors. I can list them and you can list them. It's going to come down to this, health, performance and this guy and that guy. It's going to come down to can you make shots?

"I think this team has the opportunity and the possibilities of being a contender. That's where you start with a team like this. We have an opportunity to create a new first. That's how I feel about this team. I'm excited about this season."

When asked if the team could win the title, he added: "You're asking the wrong guy. You know what I'm going to say. I was a coach, and I had five guys off the street, I would say we could win a championship. That's either my naivety or competitive will."

The Heat posted a 37-45 record last season, resulting in them missing the post-season for the first time since the 2007-08 campaign.
