Byron Scott plays down Steve Nash controversy

Los Angeles Lakers coach Byron Scott calls for fans to "relax" after Steve Nash received a backlash to an Instagram post.

Los Angeles Lakers coach Byron Scott has told the franchise's fans to "relax" after Steve Nash received a backlash to an Instagram post.

The veteran point guard has been ruled out for the entire season after aggravating a back injury, but he posted a brief video of him hitting golf balls which was later deleted.

Nash received significant criticism from Lakers fans who have been left frustrated by his inability to play consistently over the past two years.

"It probably doesn't look good [publicly], but Jesus Christ, relax," Scott said, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Nash's contract with the Lakers expires at the end of the current season and speculation has suggested that he will retire due to his ongoing back injuries.
