NBA roundup: San Antonio Spurs, Atlanta Hawks, Chicago Bulls win

Sports Mole rounds up all the action from Saturday's games in the NBA as the San Antonio Spurs, the Atlanta Hawks and the Chicago Bulls all record wins.

A strong finish from the San Antonio Spurs ensured that the NBA champions clinched another win over the Washington Wizards in the NBA.

The visitors made a positive start, but Cory Joseph, who played despite having a respiratory infection, led the comeback to leave the Spurs with wins from their last 17 meetings with the Wizards.

The Atlanta Hawks extended their lead at the top of the Eastern Conference with a win over the Portland Trail Blazers.

After a closely-fought first half, the Hawks pulled away in the third as Paul Millsap and Jeff Teague added 49 points between them to lead Atlanta to a fourth straight victory.

The Chicago Bulls needed overtime to see off the Boston Celtics in a tight game at the United Center.

The Celtics wiped out the home side's six-point half-time lead to force the additional time, but Pau Gasol put Chicago back in front after Derrick Rose stole the ball in overtime.

The Los Angeles Clippers made it three wins in a row as they crushed the Philadelphia 76ers, moving them to a 23-11 record this season.

Chris Paul and JJ Redick led the way as the home side built a big advantage early on, allowing the Clippers' starters to sit out the fourth quarter.

The Charlotte Hornets ended a five-game losing streak with a dominant first-half performance against the Orlando Magic.

Kemba Walker led the scoring with 30 points as the visitors outscored the Magic 30-9 in the second quarter, before holding off a late push from the hosts.

The Houston Rockets cruised to their 23rd win of the season by condemning the Miami Heat to their heaviest defeat of the campaign so far.

James Harden and Dwight Howard combined for 51 points as the Rockets pulled away in the second quarter, and they opened up a 34-point lead by the end of the third to seal the victory.

The Denver Nuggets claimed their first win in four games with a rout of the Memphis Grizzlies.

The home side were dominant from the start, surging to a 10-point lead by the end of the first quarter before building the advantage after the break.

The Utah Jazz eased to a win over the Minnesota Timberwolves, who are now without a win in 11 straight games.

Trey Burke, who was traded to the Jazz by the Timberwolves last season, led the scoring for Utah by finishing with a season-high 28.
