Ty Lawson excited about Houston Rockets' prospects next season

Houston Rockets point guard Ty Lawson is excited by his side's chances of challenging for the NBA title following his move from the Denver Nuggets.

Ty Lawson has revealed that he is excited at the prospect of challenging for the NBA Championship following his move to the Houston Rockets.

The Rockets traded four players to the Denver Nuggets to acquire the point guard, although the 27-year-old was forced into rehab this summer after he was arrested for driving under the influence for the second time in six months.

However, Lawson says that he is now focused on delivering his best form for the Rockets to get them into the finals after falling narrowly short last season.

Lawson told Fox 26 Houston: "I was like, before I even came to the team, I was talking to James Harden. I was like, 'Man get me over there.' I'll be that piece to get over the hump. It's definitely a breath of fresh air.

"It's a huge chance. The [Rockets] went to the Western Conference finals [this past season] and could have won, but you just needed a couple of extra pieces. So I'm excited to be playing in a situation where I know I have a chance to win."

Kevin McHale's men were defeated 4-1 by the Golden State Warriors in the Western Conference Finals last season.
