Stephen Curry shrugs off James Harden comments

Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry responds to claims from James Harden that he should have been crowned MVP last season.

Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry has claimed that James Harden will not rewrite history by claiming that he should have been crowned MVP last season.

Curry picked up the award for his performances with a dominant Warriors side in the regular season, before leading the team to the title with a 4-2 finals victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Houston Rockets guard Harden finished second in the voting, but he recently insisted that he knew his form was worthy of being named the best player in the NBA.

"It doesn't change what happened last year," Curry, who won 100 of 130 first-place votes, told CSN Bay Area.

"Different guys find different ways of motivating themselves. I've never been one to just... I'm obviously confident in what I do, and I know he's confident in what he does. It might come out in a different way.

"I try not to do a lot of talking, especially [regarding] things that have passed. Obviously, you've got to motivate yourself and I'm sure he's motivated this year to do some special things. I'm the same way."

The Warriors claimed a 4-1 series win over the Rockets in the Western Conference finals last season.
