Tim Hardaway 'ecstatic' to have joined Detroit Pistons as assistant coach

Detroit Pistons' new coach Tim Hardaway reveals his delight at teaming up with Stan van Gundy for the next NBA season.

Coach Tim Hardaway has revealed that he is ecstatic to have joined the Detroit Pistons as an assistant on Stan van Gundy's staff.

Hardaway had previously been a coach at the Miami Heat, where he helped to lead the team to four consecutive Atlantic Division titles.

"I'm ecstatic," he told the Bradenton Herald.

"It's something I wanted to do. It's all about teaching. I'm good at teaching and understanding players."

"Stan and I have great rapport. [Heat president] Pat Riley said it's a great thing for me and he's happy for me."

Hardaway previously represented the likes of the Heat and the Indiana Pacers during his playing days in the NBA.
