Samuel Dalembert: 'Joining Dallas Mavericks is a privilege'

Dallas Mavericks centre Samuel Dalembert believes that his move to the team gives him a chance to resurrect his NBA career.

Samuel Dalembert has described joining the Dallas Mavericks earlier this summer as a "privilege".

The centre signed with the team during July after coming to the end of his previous contract with the Milwaukee Bucks.

The 32-year-old told the team's website: "First of all, I want to say what an honour it is to be here with a great team, and I want to thank [Mavericks owner] Mark Cuban for the resurrection.

"It's an honour and a privilege for me to be in a great organisation and with a great group of guys. It's a well put together team. I always look forward to being on a winning team. You know, I miss that, and I feel like this is my chance and opportunity.

"I think, from the bottom of my heart, this is the right situation and the right place for me. You know, being out there protecting Dirk [Nowitzki] and then the other guys, that can make us have a fast break, grab the rebound and get easy baskets. That's why I go back to the resurrection. The old Sammy D."

Dalembert was a first-round draft pick in 2001.
