Chicago Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau believes Derrick Rose's return against Brazil will serve as great preparation for the player's participation in the NBA.

Chicago Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau has said that Derrick Rose's appearance against Brazil last night will be great preparation for next season.

Rose has been out of the game for a while after tearing his right knee meniscus last November, but made his return to the court to represent the United States in an exhibition game.

"For Derrick, there are so many positives for this," Thibodeau, who is also an assistant for the US national team, told reporters after the game.

"He shakes the rust off. He has a tremendous amount of pride. It's something that he wants to do and believes that he should do. I think this will be great preparation for the season."

The new NBA season is due to get underway on October 28.
