Charlotte Bobcats small forward Michael Kidd-Gilchrist fractures his hand during the team's defeat to the Dallas Mavericks.

Michael Kidd-Gilchrist sustained a fracture to his left hand during the Charlotte Bobcats' defeat to the Dallas Mavericks last night.

The small forward picked up six points and three rebounds during his 19-minute spell before being forced off the court with the injury.

The 20-year-old told reporters: "It was [pointing] the wrong way. That's it. I was really surprised. I didn't feel anything at the time. It happens in this league."

Kidd-Gilchrist has averaged 9.3 points per game so far this season.
