Kevin Garnett considered retirement during off-season

Brooklyn Nets center Kevin Garnett reveals that he considered retirement during the last off-season, but that he is now looking forward to getting back to playing in October.

Brooklyn Nets center Kevin Garnett has revealed that the prospect of retirement had lingered in his mind during the off-season, but that he is now raring to go for the new campaign.

Garnett was at the forefront of a late-season revival for the Nets, who found it tough going through the middle part of the 2013-14 championship as they had to get acquainted with a new roster and coach.

"It's always a thought when you're my age," said Garnett, according to The AP.

"It's somewhere in there in the back of my mind. I think I've done that for the last three years. I think about life and basketball and whether basketball was a priority. It's either yes or no. But I am committed to something, and I'm sticking with it. It's that simple.

"I'm just looking forward to having an excellent year and enjoy this year."

The Nets get their new season underway when they face the Boston Celtics on October 29.
