NBA roundup: Knicks, Mavericks, Spurs pick up wins

Sports Mole rounds up all the action from Monday's games in the NBA.

The New York Knicks claimed their fifth win in a row on Monday night by beating the Phoenix Suns 98-96 in overtime at Madison Square Garden.

Carmelo Anthony recorded impressive figures of 29 points and 16 rebounds and scored four of his side's six points in the extra period, as the Knicks came from 14 points behind to earn the victory.

Tony Parker inspired the San Antonio Spurs to a 101-95 win over the New Orleans Pelicans, who led for long spells of the game.

The veteran point guard took full responsibility when Tim Duncan fouled out of the contest and his three lay-ups in the closing stages were crucial as San Antonio secured a triumph on the road.

Monta Ellis scored 21 points as the Dallas Mavericks condemned the Orlando magic to an eighth straight loss by claiming a 107-88 victory at the American Airlines Center.

Orlando were 18 points behind the hosts at the half-time interval and despite performing slightly better after the break, the Magic were powerless to prevent another loss.

The Toronto Raptors cruised to a 116-94 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks with a dominant display at the Air Canada Centre.

Kyle Lowry topped the scoring charts for the home team with 23 points, while Jonas Valanciunas recorded 17 points and 10 rebounds for Toronto.

The Boston Celtics fell to their ninth defeat in a row at the hands of the Houston Rockets, who eased to a 104-92 triumph for a 10th away success of the season.

Despite attempting to regularly foul the influential Dwight Howard, the Celtics were unable to prevent the Houston ace from posting figures of 32 points an 11 rebounds.

The Chicago Bulls lost for the first time since Luol Deng was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers as the Washington Wizards secured a 102-88 victory at the United Center.

John Wall and Nene each scored 19 points for the Wizards, who survived a late fightback form the hosts to hold on for an impressive result.

Alec Burks starred at the Energy Solutions Arena as the Utah Jazz stormed to a 118-103 win over the Denver Nuggets.

Gordon Hayward sat on the sidelines again due to a hip strain but his absence was not felt by the Jazz as Burks scored a career-high 34 points in the comfortable victory.
