Team GB sprinter Adam Gemili thanks the supporters who got behind him during last night's 100m semi-final.

British sprinter Adam Gemili has expressed his gratitude towards those who supported him during his 100m semi-final at the Olympic Games in London last night.

Competing in his first ever Games, 18-year-old Gemili managed to finish third in the biggest race of his career to date behind Yohan Blake and Tyson Gay.

Having impressed on the individual stage, Gemili has now turned his attention towards the relay.

"You guys are amazing. Thank you all so much for your supportive tweets," he wrote on Twitter. "Really had the best time of my life. Now let's just smash this relay."

Gemili gave up her career in football to take up sprinting permanently earlier this year.
