Hungarian capital Budapest to hold vote on 2024 Olympics bid

Hungarian capital Budapest will hold a vote in June to decide whether to not the city will launch a bid to host the 2024 Olympic Games.

Budapest will decide next month whether or not the city will launch a bid to host the 2024 Olympic Games.

AFP reports that a vote at Budapest City Hall on June 23 will determine if the Hungarian capital will put themselves forward alongside Boston, Hamburg and Rome.

Mayor Istvan Tarlos last week performed a U-turn and backed the Hungarian Olympic Committee's proposal, having initialled dismissed it in February.

Cites have until September 15 to enter bids, and the International Olympic Committee will announce the venue in Lima in 2017.

Paris are also considering putting their name in the hat and have the support of president Francois Hollande.
