Conrad Williams hails relay squad's strength in depth

Conrad Williams tells Sports Mole that England's 4x400m relay squad have a bright future due to their strength in depth.

Conrad Williams has expressed his belief that Team England's 4x400m relay squad have a bright few years ahead of them due to their strength in depth.

Williams, Michael Bingham, Daniel Awde and Matthew Hudson-Smith stormed to the gold medal at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow this evening, pipping Bahamas to the line by just 0.05s.

The result saw them finally get the better of the traditional powerhouses on the track and Williams does not believe that there will be a 'fear factor' about them in future meets.

"I hope not because it is just how it is. I hope there's no fear, but it's been a good season and it's coming on really strong. It's the halfway point for us now," he told Sports Mole.

"We've now got the Europeans to go and challenge Russia and probably the Belgium team because it's never easy for us. Poland probably - we're not worried about that but it's always tough for us because this year we've got so many challenges, we've got about five, and we're still going and we're still winning medals.

"That just shows the strength in depth going into next year and 2016."

Trinidad and Tobago completed the 4x400m relay podium with the bronze medal.
