James Ellington "annoyed" after semi-final elimination

Team England 200m runner James Ellington was left "annoyed" with his performance in his Commonwealth Games semi-final heat on Thursday.

Team England 200m runner James Ellington has admitted that he was "annoyed" with his performance in his Commonwealth Games semi-final heat on Thursday.

Ellington bowed out with a time of 20.66s, which saw him finish fourth in Glasgow.

"Annoyed," Ellington told Sports Mole when asked about his performance.

"I am a better athlete than that, which is why I am annoyed."

Ellington did not make it out of the heats in the 2012 Olympics, but found few positives to take from his semi-final appearance this summer.

"Last year at the World Championships I just missed out on making the final so I was pretty convinced that as long as I stayed with my training I would be in the final this summer. To come here and get knocked out in the semi-final is not good," he added.

Ellington also refused to blame the conditions, with heavy rain falling in Glasgow.

"No the conditions are fine, there was no wind, there are no excuses," he added.

Ellington's season best was 20.44s.
