Canada's Derek Drouin wins high jump gold in dramatic style

Canada's Derek Drouin wins the high jump gold medal at the World Athletics Championships, with Ukraine's Bohdan Bondarenko and China's Guowei Zhang sharing the silver.

Canada's Derek Drouin has won the high jump gold after a jumpoff against China's Guowei Zhang and Ukraine's Bohdan Bondarenko.

The three jumpers were flawless until 2.36m when all three failed to clear it. That meant a jumpoff ensued and, once again, all three failed to clear the height.

The bar was lowered to 2.34m. First, Bondarenko narrowly clipped the bar before Drouin cleared it. Zhang had to clear the height to continue the competition but he failed and Drouin was confirmed as champion.

Bondarenko and Zhang will share the silver medal.
