Mike Shanahan: 'We're not looking to next season'

Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan reveals that he and his side are not looking ahead to next season despite being ruled out of the NFL playoffs.

Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan has revealed that he will continue to pick his best players and try to win every game despite his side's season being over.

The Redskins can no longer reach the NFL playoffs following their defeat to the New York Giants on Sunday, which left them bottom of the NFC East with a 3-9 record.

"Players know when you're playing for the future," Shanahan told CSNWashington.com.

"Players know that [the coach's] job is to play the best players that give you the best chance to win.

"If you want to see a team turn on you, just go start playing younger players and start playing for the future."

The Redskins face the Kansas City Chiefs in their week 14 clash.
