Michael Bennett sustains back injury

Seattle Seahawks defensive end Michael Bennett avoids serious injury despite being stretchered off the field during the team's win over the Houston Texans.

The Seattle Seahawks have confirmed that Michael Bennett's injury looked worse than it was during their game against the Houston Texans yesterday.

The defensive end was stretchered off the field and taken straight to a nearby hospital after his head snapped back during a collision with quarterback Matt Schaub.

In their post-game injury report, the NFC West side confirmed that the 27-year-old was able to return to the stadium after tests revealed no major injury.

The Seahawks added that Bennett has a lower back injury, but have not indicated whether the problem will keep him off the field.

Seattle went on to win the game 23-20 in overtime.
