Lawrence Okoye signs for San Francisco 49ers practice squad

Lawrence Okoye rejoins the San Francisco 49ers as part of their 10-man practice squad a day after being released by the club.

Lawrence Okoye has been signed to the San Francisco 49ers practice squad ahead of the 2014 season.

The 22-year-old was released as part of the club's roster cutdown to 53 players ahead of the new campaign, but the defensive end has made one of the 10 spots on the practice squad.


Okoye missed the 2013 season after being placed on injured reserve, after deciding to put his career in the discus on hold to pursue a career in the NFL last year.
