San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh reveals that quarterback Colin Kaepernick was inspired to perform using negative energy.

San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh has revealed that quarterback Colin Kaepernick used criticism of his game as an inspiration to guide his team to a win over the St Louis Rams.

Kaepernick was off the boil in his side's defeats to the Seattle Seahawks and the Indianapolis Colts, but bounced back with a fine performance against the Rams as his side recorded a 35-11 victory.

"Energy is energy," Harbaugh told reporters. "And there's positive energy, there's negative energy.

"And sometimes a person can get more energy from negative energy. Sometimes that can be a gift. Thank You."

The 49ers moved back to 2-2 in their season after week four.
