Geno Smith: 'My confidence is sky-high'

New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith insists that his confidence has always remained "sky-high" after putting a shaky start to the season behind him.

New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith has insisted that his confidence has always remained "sky-high" despite a shaky start to his rookie season.

Smith was criticised for the number of turnovers he committed in his first four matches, but he put that behind him as he led the Jets to a 30-28 win over the Atlanta Falcons last night.

The 22-year-old completed 16 of 20 passes for 199 yards and three touchdowns as well as no turnovers despite being sacked four times.

"It's always been a dream of mine since I was a kid to be in those situations," Smith told The AP.

"My confidence is always sky-high. Nothing can bring me down. It's a mindset. I made it my duty to come out here and not put the ball on the ground and not put my team in jeopardy."

Going into the match, Smith had turned the ball over 11 times already this season, including eight interceptions.
