Chris Johnson: 'New York Jets weren't clear about role'

Chris Johnson admits that he was disappointed that the New York Jets were not honest about the role he would have at the club in the 2014 season.

Chris Johnson has revealed that the New York Jets were not honest about his role at the club in the 2014 season.

The Jets confirmed that they would not be using the option to extend the 29-year-old's contract for a second season after the running back struggled during his time on the field for the AFC East outfit.

However, Johnson has admitted that he disappointed not to receive the fair crack of the whip he was promised before he signed as he mainly served as a backup to Chris Ivory.

"Basically, it was a situation where I was going there to be the guy, or whatever," Johnson told The Rich Eisen Show.

"And it was still said both guys were gonna get playing time but, you know, I think it was after the second game or something like that, it just switched over and I was getting less and less playing time."

Johnson recorded 633 rushing yards and one touchdown for the Jets last season and will become a free agent when the league year officially ends next month.
