New York Giants' Jerry Reese: 'David Wilson will be our starter'

New York Giants general manager Jerry Reese expects that second-year running back David Wilson will be their starter alongside Eli Manning in the backfield this year.

New York Giants general manager Jerry Reese has stated that David Wilson will be their starting running back this season.

The 22-year-old was selected in the first round of the 2012 NFL Draft by the Giants but he endured an inconsistent rookie campaign, as he failed to nail down a starting place in the backfield alongside Eli Manning.

"We expect [Wilson] to be our starter, and be in the backfield with Andre Brown, who had a terrific season going last year until he got hurt," Reese told ESPN.

"[Brown's] had the injury bug a little bit since he's been in the league. But if he can stay healthy, and David Wilson comes on like we expect him too, we think we can have a pretty dynamic backfield."

Wilson ran for 358 yards on 71 carries last season.
