John Mara: 'We are eyeing deal for Tom Coughlin'

New York Giants owner John Mara reveals that he wants Tom Coughlin to be his side's head coach for the foreseeable future despite missing the playoffs for the second-straight year.

New York Giants owner John Mara has revealed that he wants head coach Tom Coughlin to be at the club for the foreseeable future.

The Giants struggled last season as they got off to a 0-6 start, but they won seven of their last 10 games to finish 7-9, although they missed the playoffs.

"In terms of Tom's future, we haven't even had that discussion yet," Mara told ESPN. "He's obviously going to be our coach here next year and hopefully for longer than that, but we haven't sat down to even talk about that yet.

"I think he's just focused on getting the team ready for next year."

The 67-year-old has won two Super Bowls with the Giants and has been at the club since the 2004 season.
