Eli Manning: 'We need to be more clinical'

New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning admits that his side need to take more points from promising positions.

New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning has admitted that his side need to be more clinical when they get within range of the end zone in matches.

The Giants failed to score a single touchdown during their 20-12 pre-season defeat at the hands of the Indianapolis Colts last night, despite finding themselves in a number of promising positions.

The Giants' only points came from the boot of Josh Brown, who hit four field goals, but Manning is keen for his side to pick up seven points from visits to the red zone, rather than just three.

"We had three opportunities with that first group of getting down there to the five yard line or near it and not getting a touchdown," USA Today quotes Manning as saying.

"That's something where we've got to get better. We're having good drives and getting the ball close to the end zone but need to finish up with seven points instead of three."

The Giants will face the New York Jets and New England Patriots in their final two warm-up games before getting the regular season underway against the Dallas Cowboys on September 8.
