Kenny Phillips determined to overcome injury problems

New Orleans Saints defensive back Kenny Phillips is determined to ovecome his injury problems to return to the NFL after a two-year absence from the league.

New Orleans Saints defensive back Kenny Phillips is hopeful that he can put his injury problems behind him to end his two-season absence from the NFL.

The 28-year-old has not played a match in the league since the 2012 campaign when he was with the New York Giants due to a persistent knee injury.

Phillips was unable to play for the Philadelphia Eagles in 2013, and was without a team in 2014 before the Saints signed him to a future contract.

The safety is now determined to get back on the field by proving his worth to Sean Payton during his practice sessions with the NFC South outfit.

"I know why I was at home. It wasn't because I couldn't play, but because physically injuries kept me off the field," Phillips told reporters. "If I was healthy, I'd still be playing football and at a high level.

"Unfortunately for me, the injuries kept me at home on the sofa the last two years. I'm finally healthy. I'm finally good to go."

Phillips has recorded 263 tackles and eight interceptions in his five years in the NFL.
