Report: Rob Gronkowski to have ACL surgery on Thursday

New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski will undergo surgery to heal his torn ACL this week, according to a report.

New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski will reportedly undergo surgery to repair his torn ACL on Thursday.

The 24-year-old sustained the injury during his side's win over the Cleveland Browns, when he took a low hit on the knee by safety TJ Ward as he was running downfield.

Gronkowski also tore his MCL but that was allowed to heal naturally before the surgery on the ACL could take place, and now Dr James Andrews is satisfied the operation can go-ahead, according to reports.

The tight end caught 39 passes this season for 592 yards and four touchdowns in just seven games.
