Michael Sam to confront any abusive teammates

Former Missouri Tigers defensive end Michael Sam plans to talk to any future teammates who may have an issue with his homosexuality.

Former Missouri Tigers defensive end Michael Sam has revealed that he will talk to any future teammates who may have an issue with his sexual orientation.

Sam is expected to become the first openly gay player in NFL history when the Draft takes place in May, prompting plenty of debate as how he would be accepted into a locker room.

The response has been overwhelmingly positive so far, but Sam does have a plan in place to deal with any negative comments he may receive from a teammate.

"If someone wants to call me a name, I will have a conversation with that guy and hopefully it won't lead to nothing else," Sam told reporters.

Sam, who is projected as a mid-round Draft pick, was named as the SEC's co-Defensive Player of the Year last season.
