Former Miami Dolphins running back Ricky Williams believes that Jonathan Martin is using Richie Incognito as a "scapegoat".

Williams, who retired from the game temporarily in the 2004 season but returned the following year, believes that Martin is looking for someone to blame for his own personal problems.

Williams told KGMZ: "I think I can relate and I can speak on this because I was at a point where I was done with the NFL and I needed to take a break.

"But unlike Jonathan, I didn't have to find a scapegoat or someone to blame. I didn't have to bring anyone else down when I found out that I just couldn't handle what I was going through at the time."

Incognito was suspended by the Dolphins amid reports that he was harassing Martin in the locker room.
