Jamaal Charles: 'I was annoyed about being stopped from returning to the game'

Kansas City Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles admits that he was annoyed at not being allowed to return to the game in his side's wildcard-round loss in the playoffs.

Kansas City Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles has revealed that he was angry that he wasn't allowed to return to the game during his side's playoff defeat to the Indianapolis Colts.

Charles was tackled to the ground just six plays into the game at Lucas Oil Stadium and hit his head off the turf. On the sideline he was assessed by an independent doctor and due to fear of concussion he was not allowed to return, per NFL rules.

He told 610 Sports: "I was trying to get back on the field. I feel like I didn't have a concussion. You know the rules now. I started to get up and jog on the sideline, go up and down, up and down.

"Next thing you know they were like, 'Let's go to the locker room.' And I went to the locker room, and next thing you know I didn't ever come back.

"I was mad about that, but I can't do nothing about it. You know what's going with the NFL and the concussion stuff. You've just got to respect the NFL rules."

The 27-year-old ran for 1,287 yards along with 693 receiving yards, scoring 19 touchdowns in the 2013 regular season.
