Andre Johnson hints at Houston Texans exit

Long-serving Houston Texans wide receiver Andre Johnson hints that he is considering leaving the franchise this off-season.

Houston Texans wide receiver Andre Johnson has hinted that he could look to leave the team this off-season.

Johnson has been with the Texans since being selected in the first round of the 2003 Draft, going on to break almost every receiving record for the franchise.

However, after they slumped to 14 consecutive defeats at end of the last season to finish the campaign 2-14, Johnson admitted that their consistent failure to challenge for honours has caused him to question his future.

"When you've been somewhere for a long time, nobody's been here as long as I have. I've been thinking about things this off-season. Kind of wonder if this is still the place for me," Johnson told reporters.

"Now I'm on my third head coach, that's something I give thought to. I just look over my career, is it a place? I've only been to the playoffs twice. I think we've only had three winning seasons, two 8-8 seasons. I don't think any player wants to experience that.

"You go through a rebuilding process, some people say it's not rebuilding, some people say it's a quick fix. Everybody has their own opinion. But I've been through this more than once. When I make my decision, I'll make my decision."

Johnson has recorded 927 receptions for 12,661 yards and 61 touchdowns in his 11 seasons with the Texans.
