Houston Texans linebacker Brian Cushing has signed a six-year contract extension with the club worth $55m (£35m) to stay with Gary Kubiak's side until the 2019 season.

The 26-year-old missed the majority of last season with a torn ACL as he played just five games for the AFC South side.

"Couldn't be happier, I'm with a team and organisation I love," Cushing told NFL.com. "Wouldn't want to be anywhere else."

Cushing was drafted 15th overall by the Texans in the 2009 Draft.
