Houston Texans linebacker Brian Cushing believes that he will be ready to play in the opening game of the 2014 NFL season.

Brian Cushing has insisted that he will be ready for the start of the 2014 NFL season.

The Houston Texans linebacker suffered a leg fracture and knee ligament injury last October, ruling him out of the rest of the 2013 season.

The 27-year-old told the team's website: "I know I'll be ready. I know when it's go-time, and I need to ramp it up and get on the field, I'll be there."

The Texans host the Washington Redskins in the first week of the regular season.
