Florida State Seminoles dismiss quarterback De'Andre Johnson

The Florida State Seminoles take the decision to release quarterback De'Andre Johnson from their team after video evidence emerged of him allegedly striking a woman.

The Florida State Seminoles have dismissed quarterback De'Andre Johnson from their team after a video emerged of him allegedly striking a woman.

The incident reportedly took place last month in a bar in Tallahassee when Johnson and a woman were involved in an argument.

The woman struck him with her left hand before he allegedly retaliated by punching across the face with his right, which resulted in the 21-year-old reportedly sustaining a black eye and a cut to her nose.

Johnson turned himself in to a police station after a warrant was issued for his arrest, and he was released on a $500 (£320) bond last week.

However, as a result of the release of the video, the Seminoles have acted by releasing the 19-year-old from their team.

Johnson is scheduled to appear in court on July 22.
