Wes Welker to undergo concussion test

Denver Broncos wide receiver Wes Welker will undergo tests for concussion after suffering a head injury during Sunday's win over the Kansas City Chiefs.

Denver Broncos wide receiver Wes Welker has been ruled out of taking part in full practice until Friday due to suspected concussion.

Welker suffered the injury during his side's 27-17 win over the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday night and he will now undergo baseline concussion testing to determine the extent of the problem.

NFL rules state that the 32-year-old can only make a limited contribution in practice until Friday at the earliest, leaving his place for next Sunday's match against his former team the New England Patriots in doubt.

Welker was hurt on a 20-yard play in the final quarter of Sunday's AFC West clash, being hit in the head by safety Eric Berry while simultaneously being tackled by defensive end Allen Bailey.

He returned to the game briefly before being permanently taken off having shown symptoms of concussion.

The Broncos went on to win the contest, handing the Chiefs their first loss of the season and drawing level with them at the top of the division.
